"the two sentences have equivalent structures"
Myoung Ho Lee.
Myoung Ho Lee is a korean photographer who isolates structures of nature through having a contrasting white canvas impose behind the trees. He does this by taking the photos twice. once before when there is nothing behind it. and once after with support structures holding the canvas. and then using photo editing software to remove the surrounding cranes and such supports. The end result is a photo which appears that a white canvas floats behind the trees unaided. This seems to highlight and frame the beauty of the nature. Whilst seemingly flattening them.
WWW: The outcome of the photos was better than i expected. the white board looks like its floating behind the object and also giving a sense of isolation for the plant. This was what i was striving for in these pictures.
EBI: It would have been better if the lighting situation stayed the same while i took both photos. this made the white background either seem too dim or too bright.

Sanna Kannisto
Sanna Kannisto is a korean photographer that takes photos like these. He takes photos where he sets plants and flowers up in photography studios with lights. They turn out very exposed and clear.
WWW: The photos turned out well and in focus. this was how i aimed to do it.
EBI: if the white balance had been turned up. there is a grey sheen on the images.

Thomas Danthony response.
I applied the same practise to photos of brutalist structures i took. as Thomas Danthony. where he taken brutalist photography and simplified it to an extent that you can just tell the edges of the buildings.
WWW: The photos came out as i wanted. the outcome photo came out as i wanted similar to Danthonys
EBI: It would have been better is the second photo i took was in the day time, as by the time i got to the location it was already dark. there wasn't anything i could do.

Response to EVOL
Evol uses cardboard boards underneath a series of images to create a realistic building. However it is hard to distinguish between the building and a real building similar to the photo. This is what Evol tries to illustrate. To further immerse the photo he uses shadows and lighting to give the effect of real life scenarios and environments. Adding to the realism.
WWW: The colours of the image turned out really well.
EBI: If the buildings i took pictures of were brutalist structures

Structure of the Human body: Set task.
WWW: The images turned out clear and shows a distinct contrast between the two faces
EBI: If i knew of a way to blend the skull into his face more to make it more realistic it would have been better.

Strand 1: Reduced structure of Faces and Facial Features.
The idea behind this is to take inspiration from Thomas Danthony photography of brutalist architecture and the way he simplifies it. And to Develop it through the structure of the face. Im going to do this through photoshop and the outcome should be a Danthony derived face which represents the simplification of brutalist architecture.

To Simplify the faces i simply used the average blur filter selecitvely on many parts i selected using the polygonal lasso tool.
Thomas Danthony
Thomas Danthony goes about presenting brutalist architechture in an abstract way in which it still holds onto the reduced aspect of brutalist photography itself. My work is inspired by the way he uses blocked colour to create a sense of depth and reality in the photo with yet such a limited variety of colour gradients. This is clearly visible through the technique in which i used to reduce and simplify the structure of the face.

WWW: The continuation of my work from Thomas Danthony is clear in the way i simplified the faces. I think it shows clearly the development from the initial work to the now.
EBI: If i knew a better way to physically change and simplify the face. The way i used was very long and tedious meaning i couldnt focus on quality as much as i liked.

Strand 2: Structure of nature and wildlife. Macro images of flowers
I plan to capture the Structure in which nature and wildlife represent itself through close up macro images. These images will show how structural and formatted nature may not seem. But is. I will show this through exposing the original macro image. And directly comparing it to a photo of the item at a further distance. This will juxtapose exactly how different nature can look at a closer look.

Graham Owen
Graham Owens work captures the type of photography i was aiming to create when i took my photos. Creating a freeze frame of nature in its "natural habitat". This type of photography of nature frozen in its place is what i plan to take inspiration from in my upcoming developments for this strand in the final developments section.

WWW: The macro photos turned out as i wanted. They instilled the beauty of nature up close. This was what i aimed to do
EBI: The lack of background meant i had random objects interfering with the further out shots. With the macro images it was ok as the background was indistinguishable as to what it was.

Strand 3: Structure in technology, Macro images of computer components
The plan to create these photos is to use components and electronics from computers. And to use angles and a macro lens to end up with photos that immerse the viewer in them. making the object unidentifiable, and when presented with the photo from afar. This makes the viewer think twice about how the photo was taken and how they could be fooled.

WWW: The photo of the blue heatsink creates a sense of immersion as when you look at the photo, from a distance it doesent look how you would expect. This creates a desired effect with that photo.
EBI: It would have been better if i could get some more elecronics and PCB's to photograph.

Developments from the Computer components and nature.
Development 1: ASCII Image conversion
Images converted into "ASCII Art"
Method:
I made a programme that converts images into images made up entirely of words. i did this by going through every pixel of the image, getting a brightness value depending on the pixel, and turning that pixel into a letter with the corresponding brightness. the end result is a pattern that looks like the photos above.
Development 2:
In this development i implemented sections of the original image to create the effect of it morphing together. only using a small amount of the original image.
Development 3:
Developing further from my original designs with the words and proccessing in the algorithm i decided to take inspiration and apply some of the simplification i had done in my second strand; combining these two works hand in hand as it takes the simplification to another level.
Development 4:
I did all these photos with the same method. used two layers. one of the original method and one of the newly made image. i then simply remove some sections of the top layer. this creates the desired effect.
Development 5:
The way i made these pieces is by printing out both the converted image and the original image, and cutting away from the converted one. this blends the two photos in a way i may not have been able to recreate in photoshop.
Final Piece:
In my final piece i use the programme i took photos of people. then layered them in photoshop, i used the same technique as strand 3 however used a different variety and types of photos. this meant i could create different patterns and shapes within the photo. The conversion of the photo into ascii not only changed the structure of the photo and added a new dimension. however made it monotone. Further contrasting when put against the original image. This allows the images take a whole new aspect to itself and make it seem more complex than just a portrait or a converted one.
